Have you ever tried caramelized onions and apples? Wowza! There are no words to describe how delicious! And paired with goat cheese?? Whoah mamma! These onions and apples go fabulous in a breakfast bagel sandwich, on a burger, or in a cream cheese dip! You’ll be the talk of the town if you make this recipe! It might be the most delicious thing I’ve ever come up with. Enjoy!
Caramelized Onions & Apples Ingredients
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 yellow onion
1 pink lady apple
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions
- peel the onion and cut it into thin slices similar to how you would cut an apple, cut the apple into slices also and remove the seeds and core
- sautee the onion and apple slices in a crepe pan or skillet with the olive oil on low, covered
- when the onions and apples start to get tender to add the rest of the ingredients and stir, cover, cook until extremely softened
Tips: if you cook on the lowest setting it can take up to half an hour to make this dish, you might want to put it on medium-low instead. Be careful that the onions and apples don’t burn towards the end. They will absorb all of the liquid slowly and eventually could burn if you’re not paying attention.
